Care staff put best foot forward in charity walk
Staff from an Oswestry care home have taken part in a sponsored walk to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Alzheimer’s Society in Shropshire.
The Memory Walk which took place at the British Ironwork Centre has helped raise hundreds of pounds for the cause as well as marking the milestone occasion.
Staff from New Fairholme were among the participants taking part in the event.
Run by Coverage Care Services, Shropshire’s largest independent care provider, the home also supported the event by supplying bottled water to participants involved in the walk.
Chris Wall, chief executive of Coverage Care, said: “We are delighted that staff at New Fairholme and some of of head office staff were able to support this event by taking part in the walk and raising sponsorship funds.
“Many residents within our homes are living with dementia and our staff experience first-hand the challenges they face so this has been a great opportunity to support those people and their families.
“Money raised from this particular walk and others taking place across the UK help to fund research by the Alzheimer’s Society and provide ongoing support to individuals and their families.”
Coverage Care Services is a not-for-profit company, meaning that any surplus income is put back into facilities, services and staff, rather than being paid to shareholders. The organisation operates only in Shropshire, with homes in most of the county’s largest towns.
