Firms back Shropshire charity fundraiser
A fundraising event for a Shropshire charity next month has received the backing of several major businesses.
Law firm FBC Manby Bowdler, accountants Dyke Yaxley and estate and letting agent Savills have all become sponsors of the British Red Cross’ Great Summer Gardening Event in the grounds of the historic Grade 1 listed Cound Hall near Shrewsbury on May 12. Insurance specialist Cox Mahon is also supporting the fundraiser.
It is a rare chance to enjoy the parkland setting of the hall that is opened especially for the annual event from 10am to 4pm. Specialist nurseries will have a host of plants to buy and there will be a crèche to leave them in during the event.
Other exhibitors will be offering garden related items, country clothing homeware, jewellery luxury clothing, and outdoor lifestyle ranges. Refreshments will be available.
Niall Blackie, Senior Partner at FBC Manby Bowdler said: “We are very pleased to be supporting this important fundraiser to help raise thousands of pounds to support the charity’s work in the county.
“Many people don’t realise the valuable work that the British Red Cross does here on our doorstep and this is a great opportunity to have a good day out and support this worthy charity, whether you’re green-fingered or not.”
Admission is £5 and tickets can be booked in advance via www.redcross.org.uk/Greatsummergarden. They will also be available on the day.
All the profits go to the British Red Cross in Shropshire. Its work in the county includes services to help people to maintain their independence; this could involve anything from loaning a wheelchair, providing transport to medical appointments, or supporting them to return home after a stay in hospital.
The charity also provides first aid at events, community first aid training, emergency response and its youth team helps young people develop humanitarian values and gain vital life skills.
