Fundraiser for home’s dementia garden
A charity coffee morning and sale being held in Telford later this month will help raise vital funds to provide a new summerhouse for a care home dementia garden.

Staff and families of residents from Coverage Care’s Farcroft home in Wellington will host the event at Arleston Community Centre in St Giles’ Close on March 21 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The social morning will include the sale of homemade cakes, jams, preserves and crafts and there will also be a tombola and raffle.
Installing a new summerhouse is the next stage in the redevelopment of Farcroft’s specialist dementia garden.
Last year, young volunteers from the National Citizenship Scheme carried out the groundworks to enlarge the specialist garden at the centre in North Road.
Coverage Care’s fundraising effort is being support by supermarket giant Tesco, which will be hosting its own tombola in store.
Staff from the store will also be providing manpower to transform the garden when funds for the summerhouse and plants are in place later this year.
Home manager Karen McPherson urged people to support the fundraising effort.
She said: “The dementia garden is very important to our residents as it can provide vital stimulation to people in various stages of the disease. The summerhouse will provide a place for people to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the finished garden that will include sensory plants.
“The homemade preserves and crafts are already proving popular with buyers from within the home and we hope the local community will come out and support us.”
