Key small business finance campaign launched
A major campaign has been launched across Herefordshire to help small businesses gain the finance they need to grow.
The Marches Growth Hub, the one stop shop business support service for the region, says its Get Finance initiative will help small and micro-businesses unlock new and alternative funding streams to aid their development.
Get Finance will feature a series of events and workshops organised or hosted by the business support team in Herefordshire, starting with a free two-day Investment Readiness Workshop later this month.
The event – on October 16 and 22 – will feature expert advice from Birmingham-based venture capital firm Midven, which has more than 20 years’ experience helping entrepreneurs to build strong and successful companies.
Lyndsay Francis, from the Marches Growth Hub Herefordshire, said the event would give crucial help to anyone wanting to access finance to grow their business.
She said key areas covered would include:
- How to create a structured and strategic business plan
- How to create achievable financial forecasts
- What investors look for in a pitch and how to pitch successfully
- How to structure your company legally to ensure a smooth investment process
“The workshop will be led by Giovanni Finocchio, a Midven Investment Director, who has invested in early stage companies for the past eight years. He will be joined by industry experts Tony Seaton, from Blue Sky Corporate Finance, and Toby Harper from Harper James Solicitors, who will provide professional guidance on financial planning and legal documentation respectively.
“Midven has a strong record of investing in early stage businesses and has been appointed to manage the new £35m West Midlands Equity fund, part of the Midlands Engine Investment Funds (MEIF).”
