The “1 Star” status awarded to FBC Manby Bowdler, based at Juneau House on Shrewsbury Business Park, follows three consecutive years of the firm achieving a “One to Watch” ranking, which puts the business on the path to its star rating through continuous improvement. The results are compiled by employee engagement firm, Best Companies.

FBC Manby Bowdler managing partner, Kim Carr, said: “Achieving a one star rating as one of the UK’s Best Companies to Work For is a phenomenal achievement for us. It means even more because it’s based on thorough and honest feedback from our staff. It makes complete sense to all of us here that excellence throughout the firm starts with having a skilled, well supported, well rewarded and motivated team.

“We are first and foremost a people business so if we get things right for our staff, we’re getting things right for our clients. This involves everything from ensuring fair pay and conditions to providing lunchtime yoga and mediation classes to running a staff choir and organising family fun days for everyone. Exceptional people work for FBC Manby Bowdler and they provide a stellar service to our clients.”

National comparison

Staff at businesses taking part in the survey are sent questionnaires which examine various factors that affect their working life, including the leadership they receive, concern shown for their wellbeing, their opportunities for personal growth, how much they believe their organisation puts back into the community and how they feel their pay and benefits compare to similar organisations.

Kim added: “All of the initiatives we have implemented are having the benefits we intended and we listen very closely to what our staff say on a regular basis. We’re very grateful to all of the members of our staff who took the time to give their feedback because it’s important to all of us and we aim to carrying on building on this success in the years to come.”
