Minimum tillage kit line-up revealed for arable day
A top arable event is to give farmers the chance to get close up with an array of equipment ideal for minimum tillage farming.
The Arable Event is being held at a farm near the Weston Park Estate, on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border on June 22.
A new feature to this, the third year of the event, will be a demonstration area highlighting the advantage of minimum tillage field management and showcasing some of the leading equipment used in this increasingly popular approach.
On display will be a Sumo 4.5 Trio (courtesy of Cooke Farms), a 3m or 4m Weaving (Weaving Machinery), Mzuri 3m min till drill (from Ko Machines), a Great Plains Simba X-Press and T Bar (Severn Farm Machinery) as well as equipment from the John Deere range (courtesy of Rea Valley Tractors).
The day will also feature discussion of the implications of a UK exit from the European Union, taking place as it does on the day before the referendum ballot. That panel debate will be led by Simon Ward, founder and managing director of Increment Ltd and proprietor of InsideTrack.
There will also be seed trial plots of winter cereals and oilseed rape, highlighting varieties which will best suit a changing climate and presented by Syngenta.
The day-long event is free to attend and farmers are encouraged to pre-register online at www.thearableevent.co.uk by June 17, allowing for easy entry and the chance to win an iPad in a draw.
The Arable Event is organised and run by Wynnstay and GrainLink and runs from 10am to 5pm. It has become one of the region’s most popular arable events, attracting more than 750 visitors in 2015.
Event organiser, Kelly Dolphin, said: “We have a very practical and fascinating line-up for this year’s event both with the demonstrations and presentations, as well as with the wide range of specialist stands from leading organisations that work with and for the arable sector. In addition, Sinar Technology will be running a moisture meter clinic to allow farmers to check the accuracy of their equipment before harvest and BASIS and NRoSO professional development points can be obtained by attending.
“Along with free refreshments and a delegate pack on entry, we think it all adds up to a very worthwhile day out for all arable farmers.”
