Wynnstay hosts sector showcase for sheep and beef farmers
The only event dedicated to sharing expert knowledge and showcasing the latest developments and services in the sheep and beef industry will take place at Welshpool market next month.
The second Wynnstay Sheep and Beef Event on August 12 will bring together all the latest information, technology and best practice in the sector and is free for sheep and beef farmers to attend.
Keynote speakers include Professor Nigel Gibbens CBE, the Chief UK Veterinary Officer for DEFRA, Will Jackson, the Sheep and Beef Manager at The Co-operative and renowned farm vet and Nuffield Scholar Rob Drysdale.
They will lead a panel question and answer session on key performance indicators. There will be drop in sessions focusing on housing opportunities on the farm, led by Roger Parry & Partners LLP, and succession planning with Ian Tomley, a financial advisor at NFU Welshpool.
Demonstrations lined up include mobile sheep handling equipment and correct gun application.
More than 20 industry suppliers and representatives will be at the event to discuss new technology and the latest advice.
Lucy Evans from Wynnstay said: “We launched the Sheep and Beef Event last year to satisfy a need in the market for a joint sector event for farmers across the United Kingdom.
“More than 800 people came to the inaugural event and we aim to make this year’s just as informative and beneficial to those farming in the sector.
“Welshpool Market, as the largest sheep market in Europe, is the ideal location. Drawing on key industry representatives, the most important industry questions will be tackled along with showcasing innovative technology and best practice for the sector.”
“This will be a must attend event for anyone farming in the sector and we expect a high demand for places so advance fast track booking is advisable,” she added.
Visitors will also be the first to pick up the new Sheep and Beef catalogue, a directory detailing the vast range of products available for the sectors from Wynnstay.
And sheep shearers will be able to demonstrate their skills in a speed shearing competition to win Wynnstay vouchers.
